THE FANTAUZZO

The Fantauzzo is the latest addition to the influx of art-series hotels hitting Brisbane.  Opening at the newly developed hub The Howard Smith Wharves, the $100 million hotel projects off the cliff face, with geometric architecture design by SJB creating a mechanical extension of these natural forms.

Centred around Art, the hotel seeks to frame prominent Australian artists, here making a point of different to house over 500 works.  The interiors within the 166 artisan hotel rooms utilise a luxurious combination of hard raw materials, here granite and concrete juxtaposed by bespoke soft furnishings.

RC+D has designed a series of rugs printed with their own graphic artworks. These taupe and navy weave designs section up the rooms into smaller spaces, contrasting the organic wood floors they lay on.

Rich velvet furniture breaks up the space, allowing soft lush pockets to relax in. The Fantauzzoโ€™s corridors are lit similar to that of an airport runway, with led strips lighting the dark, as the light jumps between the doorways. Comparable to static the black and white speckled carpeting adds movement through the corridors as it  flickers and plays with light.
